Shafer's Fork (Lower) - April 3rd - 5th

Water was up a foot or two on Sat. The fishing was terrible. Muddy high water, with high winds, and cold. To windy for the fly, so I dug out the spinning rod. Tried a lil bit of everything and produced nothing. My buddy caught one below the Cheat River Inn using a spinner. Sunday was much better. Water went down and cleared up almost to normal and it was absolutly beautiful outside. I caught a few on the fly and and my friend caught a few on the spin.

It was not the best weekend ever, but any weekend fishn in the mountains of WV is a good weekend in my book!!!

Went to the Backcountry, Cranberry river on 3/23/2009 stayed thru 2/26/2009. Monday Blue Bird Sky's, fishing was slow. No Good. Tues the same till that evening, found a pool by one of the shelters, slayed them. Many fish, brooks, rainbows and browns. Incredible. 3rd day, went down to the Dow Way. weather was terrible, rain and ice all day, very windy, very cold. But we killed them. It was awesome. Almost unreal. Caught so many, lost count. It was insane. Headed back up river and fished as we went and tour them up. Fished with red salmon eggs, night crawlers and spinners. Caught fish on all of 'em. Sometimes we would hit on every cast. Never in my life have I seen anything like it. Really carzy. Talked to a few people while on our way in, they said fishing was lousy. They must have been on crack, cause we killed em.
