Hey Troutfisherman! Welcome to WV Trout fishing and an early welcome to Morgantown (it's where I live).

There are a number a streams in WV, and somec good ones around Morgantown as well. It really depends on your preference on what type of streams you like to fish. There are a handful of stocked streams not far from Morgantown, but in general, the better fishing in WV is in the Mon National forest and is a short 1 to 1.5 hour drive from town. You can however get on some good streams within 20 minutes from town. Three that pop into my head right away are Big Sandy Creek in Bruceton Mills, the Coopers Rock Trout Pond and Whiteday Creek. All of those get regular stockings in the winter, spring and fall and all are withing 20 minutes of Morgantown.

As far as spin fishing goes, I am mostly a fly fisherman, but a lot of my friends have big success with Super Dupers, Trout Magnets, and of course bait--nightcrawlers, minnows. In general though your typical variety of Rooster Tails, Wolly Bugger flies with a spinner on them, Super Dupers, small jigs, etc will catch trout in all these streams.

If you have any more questions or want some further direction once you get up here, just shoot me a message on here or email me at dmjazz@earth_link_.net . I fish religiously so I'm always out and about looking for trout

RiverRasta should chime in soon. He is the best trout spin fisherman I know. Rasta, where are you??!!??

Hey no problem! Stop by here and say hi anytime--give up some reports.

I hope you like college sports. It comes with the territory in Morgantown. It's a great town though, and it's leading the nation in employment rates. The economy here surprisingly isn't taking the hit a lot of other places are, for whatever reason. It's been remaining stable here.

Welcome Troutfisherman, I am about an hour and a half from Morgantown and we have some good streams and rivers here. If you or anyone else want to fish my way, i'm in Mineral County, let me know. I am always looking for someone to fish with.
