The Farm Bureau is feeling pretty good right now, about getting the number of protected streams lowered:
TIER 2.5 UPDATE
Friday, February 8-
The wheels of progress are turning! When S.B. 456 was brought before the Senate Natural Resources Committee, the bill was amended by Senator Facemyer from 309 streams to 108 (An amendment that WVFB SUPPORTED.). The amendment passed on a voice vote, WITH THE ONLY APPARENT NEGATIVE VOTE BEING CAST BY SENATOR RANDY WHITE. Committee members include: Barnes (District 15), Bowman (District 1), Deem (District 3), Facemyer (District 4), Fanning-Chair (District 6), Green (District 9), Helmick (District 15), Love (District 11), McCabe (District 17), McKenzie (District 1), Prezioso (District 13), Unger (District 16) and White-Vice-Chair (District 11). Be sure to express your appreciation to the decision-makers who supported this amendment. A special thanks is also due to the many Farm Bureau members who braved the inclement weather to attend the committee meeting. The room was overflowing, predominantly with Farm Bureau members. There were also many forestry and other coalition friends present. OFFICIAL ACTION - The Committee recommended that S.B. 456 pass, with the 108 amendment, but first go to Finance (Walt Helmick, Chair), then to Judiciary (Jeffrey Kessler, Chair). STAY TUNED.
